Ian Edmund Tokarski

1949 – 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ian Edmund Tokarski, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, on Friday, June 16, 2023, at the age of 74. Ian will be greatly missed by his bride of 53 years, Lynda Sue Tokarski (nee Killah) and his children Kimberly Ann, Derek Stuart (Michaela), and John Kevin (Sarah).  Ian was the proud and loving Grandpa of Scarlett, Alexis, Kaleb, Blake, Brayden, Andrew, Justin, Clara, Olivia, and Cole. He was predeceased by his infant daughter, Katherine Louise (1972), by his parents, Anna and Jan Tokarski as well as his brother Douglas and sister Sandra. Ian was born in 1949 in Dunfermline, Scotland, and as a child his family moved to Timmins, Ontario.  He will be missed by his many friends and neighbours in Timmins, Toronto, Oshawa, Aurora, Markham, and Fenelon Falls.  Ian founded and operated Kile Contr. Inc., an underground utility contractor, in 1975.  Over the course of 48 years, he employed hundreds of people and helped to build the infrastructure of the Greater Toronto Area, a city he loved.  He was proud to see his children and grandchildren working in the family business. Throughout their lives, Ian and Lynda opened their homes and hearts to anyone in need. Ian was an avid reader, woodworker, and outdoorsman.  He loved to spend his time boating, skiing, canoeing, camping, hunting, and fishing.  He loved the lakes of the Kawarthas, the lakes and rivers of Northern Ontario, and above all the mighty Burnt River. Ian gave his wife, children, and grandchildren a lifetime of adventures, care, love, and joy.  He was loved and will be missed.  If desired, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.  A celebration of life will be held at The Jubilee Pavilion in Oshawa, ON, October 4th, 2023, from 5-8 pm.  If you wish to attend, please RSVP to kevin@kile.ca.  “Believe me my young friend, there is nothing – absolutely nothing – half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.” Kenneth Grahame – The Wind in the Willows.
